What is Advair Inhaler

Advair is an asthma management medication. It contains Fluticasone and Salmeterol. Advair is a steroidal bronchodilator. Fluticasone is a steroid and Slameterol is the bronchodialator. Salmeterol improves breathing by dilating the airway muscles. Fluticasone or fluticasone propionate prevents the release of substances that causes inflammation.

Advair is a potent medication against COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Advair is not to be used to treat an asthma attack that has already begun. It is used to prevent an asthma attack. Do not use Advair unless it has been prescribed by your doctor. Salmeterol has been known to increase the risk asthma related deaths. Advair is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to milk proteins.

Advair inhaler comes in an aerosol form in a canister. Advair Diskus comes in powder form with a special inhaler loaded with blister packs of tablets. Always shake the aerosol Advair inhaler for atleast 5 seconds before each spray. Keep track of the number of spray. Throw away the Advair inhaler canister after the metered number of doses, which normaly is 120 doses.

Advair inhaler should not be used along with other forms of salmeterol like Srvent or similar bronchodilators. Advair inhalers can lower immunity. Avoid being near persons who are sick or have a known infectious disease. Talk to your doctor about preventive measures.

Remember do not use more than the prescribed dosage of Advair inhaler. Contact your doctor if you feel that the Advair inhaler is not providing you relief.
